Julianna is an insightful, inspiring, and invigorating teacher for students of any age. Whether you want to learn to play the flute for the first time, get into a collegiate music program, youth orchestra, music festival, or just become a better flutist and musician, Julianna is here to help. Her rounded approach to learning focuses on developing healthy fundamentals, sharing practice techniques to increase confidence and efficiency, and empowering students to express their unique voice.
An active educator, Julianna served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant (flute) at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music from 2019-2021. She has also taught masterclasses throughout Ohio, Indiana, and Georgia and before coming to Cincinnati, maintained a private flute studio in Bloomington, Indiana. Currently, Julianna teaches at Willis Music (Kenwood) and Tallant Music Studio (Fort Thomas).
Julianna has performed throughout North America and Europe, experienced playing in both traditional orchestral ensembles and diverse chamber settings. Julianna frequently performs with Cincinnati-based chamber music lab Concert:Nova, contemporary chamber ensemble New Downbeat, and the multi-genre Thrive Hip Hop Orchestra.
An advocate for new music, Julianna has premiered over 50 works for solo flute and ensemble. Her performances have featured live and recorded electronics, projected video, as well as live staging and dance. In 2021, Julianna was awarded an Interdisciplinary Research Fellowship from the UC Graduate Student Government for her project Sadie’s Story, a new commission for solo flute and electronics documenting the immigration stories of her relatives. Julianna has performed at the Society of Composers, Inc. Student National Conference, the Midwest Composers Symposium, and the SPLICE institute.
Julianna graduated from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with a Master of Music in 2021. She previously studied at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, receiving the Performer Diploma and Bachelor of Music degrees.
