Polish American mezzo-soprano Matilda Smolij is a third-year undergraduate voice student at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. During the 2021 season, Matilda has performed as the Third Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with CCM Opera D’Arte and as Cherubino with the International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia under the baton of Maestro Jorge Parodi. Previously, Matilda has sung the roles of Third Spirit in Die Zauberflöte and Lolette in Puccini’s La Rondine. Matilda has performed Brahms’ Zwei Gesange and Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, Matilda has organized and performed solo recitals in collaboration with both the Polish American Symphony Orchestra and the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland. In addition to performing, Matilda is passionate about sharing the joy of singing with the next generation through healthy technique and musical exploration.
